The money line is an indicator of the odds that a team will win. A negative money line represents how many dollars you would need to bet to win $100. A positive money line represents how many dollars you would win if you bet $100.
Example
The player wagers on Dodgers +130 at Padres -141. If the Dodgers win then the player would lay $100.00 to win $130.00. If the player bet on Padres then the player would lay $141.00 to win $100.00.
Point Spread / Run Line
The pointspread - also called "the line" - is used as a margin to handicap the favorite team. The oddsmaker - also called the handicapper - "gives" points (or goals) to the underdog - for betting purposes only. The bettor must take either the favorite or the underdog. The favorite is always indicated by a minus sign (e.g. -1.5) and the underdog by a plus sign (e.g.+1.5). For betting purposes, the outcome of the game is determined by taking the actual game score and finding the difference between the scores of the two teams playing (called the pointspread or just the "spread").
Total Points / Total Runs
Number of points expected to be scored. Sometimes the over or under is favored. In this case the over/under is followed by an Ov or Un, then the money line (Ov 9 -120, Baseball)
